We are appealing for information after a man was attacked in a car park in Tamworth.
Witnesses described seeing an argument between two people inside different cars on Saxon Mill Lane, just before 4am, on Saturday (27 January). A passenger in one of the cars was seen hitting the other vehicle with an axe. One of them drove off shortly after.
A man was then assaulted by a small group of men who were inside one of the cars. They drove off after it happened.
Armed officers attended the scene and searched the area, supported by a helicopter from the National Police Air Service (NPAS). The victim was later identified and spoken to by officers about what happened.
