An ‘outstanding’ student officer in Staffordshire who thwarted a man carrying weapons and saved a man’s life following a collision has won our Student Officer of the Year award.
PC Lucinda Niemz, who currently works on response in East Staffordshire local policing team, has already shown exceptional skills as a student officer across a number of challenging incidents.
She chased a suspect for a considerable distance before detaining him. He had two zombie knives and a knuckle duster at the time.
One of her colleagues talked about how PC Niemz stayed so cool, calm and collected during another incident in a high pressure, high emotion situation, describing her actions as outstanding and striking the perfect balance between professionalism and empathy.
She also responded to a serious road traffic collision after a man who was badly injured. He since thanked PC Niemz for saving his life and providing such a high standard of investigation and care.
Her drive for perfection can be seen in her high scores in her law test exam results too.
Held at the National Memorial Arboretum in Lichfield, PC Lucinda Niemz was presented with the award.
Speaking following the award, PC Niemz said: “I feel grateful to have been nominated, and delighted to go on to win this award.
“I work alongside a fantastic team of individuals each and every day in Staffordshire and their support has helped me so much since I started in the role.”
