A man has been arrested after a house was broken into and a man was assaulted in Newcastle-under-Lyme.
We were called to Third Avenue in Kidsgrove at about 12.35am today (Tuesday 31 December) following reports that two men wearing face coverings with weapons had forced entry into the address.
A man inside the address was assaulted but was not seriously injured.
At this time, it is not clear if anything has been taken.
Officers were drawn to a Ford C-Max acting suspiciously in the area and saw someone get out and run away. The driver of the car was detained at the scene.
A 36-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, has been arrested. He will be questioned in custody while our enquiries continue.
