Just after 7pm, on Wednesday 27 November, we were told that a man had damaged a crucifix outside St Mary and St Chad Church, on Anchor Road, Longton. He then walked off.
The suspect is described as in his 30s and around 5ft 11ins tall. He was of stocky build with dark hair and a beard, and was wearing a beanie hat, grey tracksuit bottoms, a khaki-coloured coat, and white trainers.
We are investigating and have examined local CCTV.
