Two men have been arrested after a stolen car collided with the roadside in Longsdon.
Shortly before 4pm on Tuesday (20 August), we were called to Devil’s Lane after an emergency assistance call went off in a white Ford Fiesta.
Officers went to the scene and found the car abandoned. Recovery was arranged while enquiries were carried out to track down the owner.
We then found out that the owner of the car was driving it when he stopped on Biddulph Road after being flagged down by the driver of a blue Ford.
Three men got out the blue Ford and then got into the white Ford, driving it away. They left the blue Ford and the owner of the white Ford at the scene.
A short time later, the white Ford collided with the roadside. Those inside left the area on-foot, possibly in the direction of nearby fields.
We’ve been reviewing CCTV and speaking to people in the area at the time to find out more about what happened.
A 36-year-old man, of no fixed address, has been arrested on suspicion of robbery and fraud by false representation.
A 41-year-old man, from Leek, has been arrested on suspicion of robbery.
Both have been questioned in custody and released on conditional police bail while our enquiries continue.
We’re keen to speak to anyone with any information that can help us with our investigation, including those with CCTV, dashcam and doorbell footage of the area at time.
