A large number of people did gather in Burton-on-Trent yesterday (Monday 5 August) but there was no disorder.
We received intelligence and were aware of social media reports about a planned protest.
We deployed specialist public order officers who monitored the group and made sure everyone was safe.
There was no disorder or violence.
As part of our robust response to the incidents we’ve seen in Stoke-on-Trent and Tamworth recently, we’ve been using drone surveillance, body-worn video and the National Police Air Service (NPAS) to gather footage of the people involved in the incidents.
We’ve reviewing all material as part of our ongoing investigation.
Anyone with any information that can help us identify those responsible for these senseless acts are asked to get in touch using the major incident public portal (MIPP) here: https://mipp.police.uk/operation/STAFFS24N02-PO1
We can assure communities in Staffordshire that a dedicated team of detectives are working around the clock to review all of the evidence available.
Robust action will be taken against those involved in violence.
