Investigation launched after man found dead

We’ve launched an investigation after a man was found dead inside a house in Burton-on-Trent.

Officers were called to Hazel Crescent in Branston at 4.45am this morning (Sunday 4 August) following reports of a sudden death.

We went to the scene with colleagues from West Midlands Ambulance Service.

Sadly, a man was pronounced dead at the scene.

His family are being supported by specially-trained officers.

We’ve set up a cordon in the area while we continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death.

A 52-year-old man and a 46-year-old woman, from Burton-on-Trent, have both been arrested on suspicion of murder.

They will be questioned in custody.
