We can sadly confirm that a body has been found in the search for missing 77-year-old Hugh, from Leek.
A team of specialist search teams and volunteers have been looking for him since he was reported missing on Tuesday (20 August).
Extensive searches have taken place around Rudyard Lake, where we believed Hugh travelled to on the day he went missing.
Sadly, a body was discovered in the water today (Thursday 22 August).
Formal identification will take place in due course, but at this stage, we believe the man to be missing Hugh.
We are not treating the death as suspicious and a file has been prepared for HM Coroner.
We’d like to thank everyone who has come forward with information as part of the efforts to try and find him over the last few days, as well as those who shared the appeals for information.
Specially-trained officers are supporting his family as much as possible at this time.
