Three suspected vehicle thieves have been arrested after we found a stolen car with false number plates in a car park in Stoke-on-Trent.
Just after 12.15am this morning (Friday 19 April), we found a blue Ford Fiesta just off Dawlish Drive, Bentilee.
Three men who were in the car tried to run away when they saw us, but failed.
We quickly found out the car was stolen yesterday (Thursday 18 April) from an address in the Kingswinford area of the West Midlands.
An 18-year-old man, of no fixed address, a 19-year-old man and a 22-year-old man, both from Stoke-on-Trent, were arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft and are due to be questioned in custody.
It comes after we launched a clampdown on vehicle theft across all ten local policing teams in Staffordshire. We know the devastating affect it can have on people, businesses and livelihoods and we’re committed to targeting those responsible and protecting the belongings of our communities.
