We have arrested seven people after finding £20,000-worth of class A drugs, weapons and phones linked to drug dealing in a series of warrants carried out in Burton-on-Trent.
Today (Thursday 25 April) officers from our major and organised crime proactive teams, working with neighbourhood colleagues, forced entry and searched 10 separate addresses in simultaneous warrants in Burton-on-Trent and Stapenhill.
We seized 200 grams of heroin and crack cocaine, a knife, an extendable baton and 15 mobile phones believed to be used to facilitate drug deals.
Following the activity, we arrested seven people on suspicion of being concerned in the supply of class A drugs. They are:
Two 18-year-old men, a 23-year-old man, a 39-year-old man, a 29-year-old woman and a 33-year-old woman, all from the Burton-on-Trent area, and 44-year-old man, from the Lichfield area. All remain in police custody while our enquiries continue.
Detective Superintendent Nicki Addison, head of major and organised crime, said: “This was a significant operation to arrest individuals causing harm within the locality. The seizure of drugs and arrests follows a number of co-ordinated warrants and today’s activity is the result of our investigations and response to drug dealing activity in the Burton-on-Trent area. Information and intelligence from our communities is key and I would encourage the public to contact us with any information or concerns relating to organised crime.
“We continue to work proactively to target those involved in supplying drugs in Burton-on-Trent and throughout Staffordshire as part of our Operation Target commitment to tackle serious and organised crime across the county.”
We are working with the Regional Organised Crime Unit (ROCU) on Operation Target.
