We have arrested a man after responding to a call about an attempted vehicle theft in Stoke-on-Trent.
At 2.55am this morning (Friday 12 April), we were called to Fife Street in Fenton after a man was spotted trying to drive a VW Caddy out of a compound in the area.
The man tried to drive the car through a fence. He didn’t manage to do it and left it at the scene.
We started work to identify the suspect in the area.
A 42-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, has since been arrested on suspicion of attempted vehicle theft and remains in custody.
We’ve been proactively targeting vehicle thieves across all ten local policing areas in Staffordshire as part of our continued Operation Bormus initiative.
Since it was launched in June 2022, we’ve arrested more than 120 suspected vehicle thieves and charged more than 50 with associated offences.
