Boy arrested after off-road bike seized in proactive patrol

We have arrested a teenage boy and seized an off-road bike as part of our continued efforts to tackle anti-social behaviour across Stoke-on-Trent.

Just after 2pm yesterday (Sunday 21 April), we went to the BP petrol station off James Brindley Way in Tunstall after spotting an orange KTM motorbike without any registration plates.

The boy who was riding it tried to run away, but failed. He assaulted the officer who arrested him.

The officer suffered minor injuries and stayed on duty.

After checking the bike and finding out it was also uninsured, we seized it.

A 17-year-old boy, from Stoke-on-Trent, was arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker.

He has since been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

We launched Operation Transom as part of our efforts to tackle nuisance off-road motorbikes in partnership with the Stoke-in-Trent City Council.

Part of this work has seen increased patrols around hotspot areas and seizing bikes that are used to commit ASB.
