We have arrested a woman following a spate of criminal damage in Burton-on-Trent this morning (26 September).
Just after 10am, we received reports of a woman who was in possession of an axe near Guild Street. She was seen smashing a number of windows in the area and was causing alarm and distress.
Shortly after, we arrested a 35-year-old woman, from East Staffordshire, on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and criminal damage. She remains in custody at this time.
We understand the concern felt locally as a result of this incident, in particular those who were in the area at the time.
We’d like to reiterate that no one was injured and officers are progressing their investigation and speaking to witnesses about what happened today.
Those with any information which could help us with our enquiries are asked to get in touch by calling 101, quoting incident 194 of 26 September, or message us using Live Chat on our website – www.staffordshire.police.uk
