We are urging motorbike owners to protect their vehicles after a recent spate of thefts in Burton.
A grey AJS Insetto moped was stolen overnight from an address on Long Street, Stapenhill, on Monday (25 September).
Then, on Tuesday (26 September), a grey/silver Keeway RKS motorbike was taken from the driveway of a home on Essex Road between 3.30am and 8am.
A third theft took place when an orange KTM 70 motorbike was stolen from inside the garage of a property on Cumberland Road.
Then, a blue and silver Yamaha YZFR motorbike was taken from a driveway on Somerset Road between midnight and 4am on Wednesday (September 27).
PC Kelly Allen, of the Burton local policing team, said: “We are advising owners of motorbikes to take all the necessary measures to deter thieves targeting this type of vehicle as we continue to investigate these recent incidents.
“We would advise that, if possible, you leave your bike in a locked garage and secure it to a ground anchor, or other fixed point using a high-quality chain and lock.
“If you must park your bike away from your property, try to leave it in a well-lit area, ideally covered by CCTV. It’s well worth the extra five to 10-minute walk.
“Work is continuing to review all of the available CCTV, speak to witnesses and pursue those responsible for these thefts.”
Anyone with any information which can help us with our enquiries are asked to get in touch, particularly those with CCTV, dashcam or doorbell footage from the areas at the time.
