Residents are invited to join PCSOs (Police Community Support Officers) as new gym equipment is unveiled at Chesterton Memorial Park this Friday (15 September).
Officers from the Newcastle-under-Lyme local policing team have been working with Cllr David Grocott and Kidsgrove Care Solutions to get the equipment, which has been donated by street furniture suppliers Broxap Ltd.
It will be used by Kidsgrove Care Solutions to help support adults with all disabilities, as well as members of the community.
The opening event will be held from 11.30am to 2.30pm and will be an opportunity to speak to everyone involved in the project, including local police officers.
There will be light refreshments available, including a pie and cake van for attendees to purchase lunch.
PCSO Hannah Chaplin from Newcastle Local Policing Team said: “This is a really important project and the new equipment will be of great benefit to everyone in the community.
“I’d like to extend a big thank you to everyone who has been involved.”
Cllr David Grocott said: "This is a great boost for the whole community of Chesterton, who have always looked to have more activities in Chesterton Memorial Park.
"On behalf of all the Ward, I would like to thank Broxap for this generous donation and praise all our local PCSOs for all their hard work and commitment. I would also like to thank Kidsgrove Care Solutions for their input, and Newcastle-Under-Lyme officers for making this dream become reality.
Cllr David Hutchison from Newcastle- Under-Lyme Borough Council, Cabinet member for Sustainable Environment, added: “Exercise is so important and we’re delighted to support this excellent project.”
