We have arrested a man following an incident in Stafford today (23 October).
Yesterday evening (22 October) we were called to a home after a man forced his way inside. He refused to leave and was spoken by specially-trained negotiators after he barricaded himself inside.
Our colleagues from Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service were then called after smoke was seen coming from the building. Paramedics from West Midlands Ambulance Service also went to the scene.
Shortly after 9.30am this morning, we arrested a 41-year-old man, from Tamworth, on suspicion of arson with intent to endanger life.
Officers stayed at the scene this afternoon to speak to witnesses, review footage of the area and carry out enquiries to find out more about what happened and reassure the local community.
No one was injured and the occupiers of the home continue to be supported by officers.
We would like to thank those who were in the area at the time for their patience and understanding following a period of disruption.
