A drug dealer has been jailed for more than three years after he was caught with a knife, crack cocaine and heroin in Cannock.
Matthew Cartwright, aged 43, from Cannock area, was stopped on Belt Road whilst driving a Nissan Micra in August 2020.
We found more than twenty rocks of crack cocaine and twenty wraps of heroin on him, as well as a locking knife, two phones and £400 in cash.
The total value of the drugs seized was more than £900.
After his arrest, Cartwright admitted to supplying drugs in the local area. He was sentenced at Stafford Crown Court on Friday (9 June) for possession of a knife in a public place and possession with intent to supply crack cocaine and heroin.
It comes as our Regional Organised Crime Unit, launched a proactive operation to target serious and organised crime in Staffordshire.
Operation Target launched last month and has seen officers cracking down on serious offences – including drug supply, knife crime, illegal firearms and sexual exploitation.
Detective Sergeant Lindsey Brown, who was the officer in this case, said: “Those intent on distributing illegal drugs within our communities will be robustly targeted and brought before the courts.
“We are determined to target the organised crime groups response for this criminality and to best protect those at risk of being exploited by them.”
