We are appealing for witnesses after a man died in a collision on the A50 near Longton last night (Sunday 2 July).
We were called just before 7:30pm to the A50 eastbound carriageway following reports of a collision.
Officers attended along with colleagues from the West Midlands Ambulance Service.
Upon arrival, a black Lex Moto motorcycle was believed to have been involved in a collision with the roadside barrier. Despite the best efforts of paramedics, the rider, a man in his 30s, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specially- trained officers.
To assist with the investigation, both sides of the A50 were closed temporarily, with traffic being diverted.
Officers from the Staffordshire and West Midlands Serious Collision Investigation Unit are now investigating the circumstances leading up to the collision.
Anyone who witnessed the collision, saw the vehicle beforehand or who may have relevant CCTV or dashcam footage is asked to get in touch with us. You can contact the Collision Investigation Unit directly by emailing [email protected] quoting incident number 622 of 2 July.
