A man has been jailed for 24 years after he was found guilty of child sexual offences.
Peter Lyndon Tranter, 67, of Biddulph, was sentenced at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court yesterday (Tuesday 17 January).
He pleaded guilty part-way through his trial in November 2022 to two counts of rape a girl under 13, two counts of rape a girl aged 13/14/15 and four counts of sexual assault of a girl under 13.
The offences took place in Staffordshire between 2006 and 2010. They were reported in May 2019 and Tranter was charged in June 2020 following an investigation by the force’s Rape and Serious Sexual Offences team.
Tranter was also placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life
DC Simon Mctrusty, of Staffordshire Police, said: “The victim has shown tremendous courage and strength coming forward.
“I would urge anyone who has been a victim of such crimes to come forward and report this to us. We will listen to you, and you and your families will be supported by specially-trained detectives and support workers.
“If you are or have been a victim or you are worried about something, and you don’t feel ready to talk to the police, please speak to someone you trust.”
