A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a woman was found with injuries in Smallthorne.
Police were called to Chetwynd Street just after 11.30am yesterday (Wednesday 21 September) following reports of concerns for a woman.
Firearms officers attended due to a report of a weapon been seen in the property. On arrival, a woman, was found with facial and head injuries.
She was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital for treatment, where she remains in a critical but stable condition.
A 38-year-old man, of no fixed address, was arrested this afternoon and remains in custody.
Officers remain at the scene.
