A man has been jailed over drug offences after we discovered more than 180 cannabis plants at a property in Stafford last year.
Kenneth Martin, 44, of Blythe Bridge Bank, Stowe-by-Chartley, was sentenced at Stafford Crown Court on Wednesday (23 November) to 40 months behind bars having pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing to supplying class B drugs and producing class B drugs.
The court heard how officers attended a property in Stafford at around 3.30pm on 6 February 2021 following reports of suspicious activity.
We initially discovered a small number of cannabis plants in a garage.
Officers then searched a property and found three rooms each containing a number of plants at different stages of maturity.
All the plants were seized as was a mobile phone.
Martin was arrested at the scene and subsequently charged with the offences which he later admitted in court.
PC Christopher Blanksby, of the East Staffordshire Local Policing Team, said: “This was a significant discovery for the team and I’m pleased Martin was handed a custodial sentence.
“We continue to do all we can to disrupt the supply of drugs in our communities, including cannabis, as part of our dedicated Operation Levidrome.”
