We are appealing for information after an elderly man was targeted and his wallet stolen during a distraction burglary in Rugeley.
We were called to an address near Hill Street at 11.05pm on Tuesday (15 November) after a man knocked the victim’s door and asked if he could use his phone to book a taxi.
The victim allowed the man into his property who then stole his wallet whilst he was distracted.
We traced the stolen bank cards and found they were then used to purchase goods at the nearby petrol station on Western Springs Road.
The suspect is described as white and in his 30s, wearing a black jacket.
Since the theft, we conducted door-to-door inquiries and have provided reassurance to the victim, who was left shaken but unhurt.
We are advising residents in the area to remain vigilant and report any suspicious behaviour to us.
Anyone with any information or relevant CCTV footage of the Hill Street area at the time of the theft is asked to get in touch with us.
Contact us on Facebook, Twitter or call 101, quoting incident 853 of 15 November.
