A man has been jailed after cash and drugs worth more than £70,000 were found in Stoke-on-Trent.
Mubarik Ali, 42, of Baron Street, Stoke-on-Trent, was sentenced at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court on Friday (27 May) to three years in prison after admitting two counts of possession with intent to supply class A and possession of criminal property.
The court heard how officers carried out a stop-and-search of a Volkswagen Passat on Baron Street, Stoke-on-Trent on 26 January 2022.
Officers found and seized two mobile phones, a quantity of class A drugs and a small quantity of cash.
Just under an hour later, officers then executed a search of Ali’s home address.
Around £20,000 in cash and a large amount of cocaine, worth in the region of £49,000 to £62,000, were discovered and seized.
Ali was arrested, charged and subsequently convicted of the offences – pleading guilty to all charges ahead of sentencing.
Detective Sergeant Marc Proctor of Staffordshire Police, said: “Officers were really pleased to have seized class A drugs as significant as this.
“I am pleased that we were able to get these drugs off the streets and protect our communities from the impact of Ali’s criminality.”
