A man has been arrested following an attempted knifepoint post office robbery in Burton.
Police were called to Wellington Street, Burton, at around 3.40pm on Thursday 17 March.
Officers attended and were told a man had entered the premises a short time prior to officers’ arrival, produced a knife and threatened staff, before demanding money.
Staff members raised the alarm and the offender ran off empty-handed in the direction of Burton Town Hall.
Those present in the premises at the time were left shaken but unhurt.
Following assistance from members of the public with their inquiries, officers located a man in Kidsgrove yesterday (Tuesday 22 March).
A 19-year-old man, from Kidsgrove, was arrested a short time later on suspicion of attempted robbery.
He has since been granted conditional bail pending further enquiries.
