A man has been charged over an assault that left a man with life-threatening head injuries in Hanley last year.
Police were called at around 4am on Sunday 28 November 2021 to Trinity Street, near to the junction of Stafford Street, following reports of violence.
The victim, who was 28 years old at the time, was found unconscious at the scene and taken to hospital by ambulance.
He sustained significant head injuries and currently remains in a critical condition in hospital.
Benjamin Wallbanks, aged 39, of Opal Road, Fenton, has been charged with one count of grievous bodily harm with intent.
He has been remanded into police custody and is due to appear before magistrates at North Staffordshire Justice Centre tomorrow (Friday 8 July).
