Officers are appealing for information after a man was assaulted and jewellery and cash were stolen from a property in Newcastle-under-Lyme.
Police were called shortly after 1am on Monday (4 July) to an address in Seabridge, following reports of a burglary.
Officers attended and a man reported being assaulted by a group of individuals who then stole approximately £8,000 in cash and jewellery worth in the region of £30,000.
The victim, a man in his 70s, was taken to hospital by ambulance with head injuries.
He has since been discharged.
The suspects are described as two men and one woman aged between 25 and 40, wearing hooded sweatshirts.
The offenders made off across fields in the direction of Guernsey Drive and Seabridge Lane.
A police helicopter and dog unit were deployed to the scene.
An area search proved to be negative, however, inquiries are continuing.
Officers are currently reviewing CCTV footage of the area at the time of the burglary and urge anyone with information to get in touch.
