A man has been arrested following an attempted robbery and assault in Hanley.
Police were called to Lichfield Street, Stoke-on-Trent at 1am on Wednesday (5 January).
A man reported that he had been approached by two men, one of whom demanded his phone before assaulting him.
The victim sustained a minor injury in the incident.
The offenders left the scene empty-handed.
A 20-year-old man, from the Stoke-on-Trent area, was arrested a short time later on suspicion of robbery. He remains in custody while inquiries continue.
