Officers are appealing for information after one person died following a collision in Cellarhead earlier today (19 January).
Police were called at 11.14am on Wednesday to Leek Road following reports of a collision involving two vehicles.
Officers attended along with Staffordshire Fire and Rescue Service and the ambulance service.
Upon arrival, a Ford Focus was found in collision with a stationary tractor.
A 81-year-old man, the driver and sole-occupant of the Ford vehicle, was sadly pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.
No one else was hurt.
Formal identification will take place in due course and next of kin have been informed.
A file will shortly be prepared for HM Coroner.
The road currently remains closed at the junction of Cellarhead Road in the direction of Weston Coyney and drivers are being urged to avoid the area.
Officers are appealing for anyone who saw the collision or who may have dashcam footage of the area at the time of the crash to get in touch.
