A man has been jailed over drug offences after officers discovered more than 150 cannabis plants at a property in Burton last year.
Aleks Yzeiraj, aged 35, of Uxbridge Street, Burton-upon-Trent, was sentenced to 20 months’ imprisonment at Stafford Crown Court on Friday (28 January), after admitting being concerned in the production class Bs.
The court heard how officers attended an address off Evershed Way, Burton, on 4 October 2021, following reports of suspicious activity.
On arrival, officers found a window at the rear of the property boarded up.
Upon entry to the address, officers located more than 150 cannabis plants.
The plants were seized, as were three mobile phones, more than £600 in cash, and a passport.
Yzeiraji was arrested a short time later and subsequently charged.
PC Christopher Blanksby, of the East Stffordshire Neighbourhood Policing Team, said: “I am pleased that Yzeiraj admitted his offending and that the judge saw fit to deliver a custodial sentence.
“We will continue to do all we can to disrupt the drugs supply in East Staffordshire and ensure our communities continue to be as safe as possible.”
