A man from Burton-on-Trent has been jailed for assault offences following an incident in November of last year.
Daniel Rowley, 41, of Horninglow Road, Burton-on-Trent, was sentenced at Stafford Crown Court on Tuesday (6 December) to 15 months in prison after pleading guilty to assault by beating and common assault at an earlier hearing.
The court heard how the victim was approached by Rowley just after 5.40pm on 18 November 2021 on Church Street, Tamworth.
The victim reported being spat at twice by Rowley and was left shaken following the incident.
Shortly after, officers located Rowley and detained him.
PC Alison Kelly, of the Tamworth Local Policing Team, said “The victim was supported by intermediaries and we are glad Rowley pleaded guilty to the assault.
“We welcome the custodial sentence that was issued to Rowley.”
