A man has been jailed for seven and a half years after admitting to the attempted rape of a child and robbery in Burton.
Kieran Carl Webb, 22, of Calais Road, Burton, was sentenced at Stafford Crown Court on Tuesday (5 April) after pleading guilty to the attempted rape of a child under 16 and robbery.
Police were called at 8.15pm on 16 September 2021 to reports of an attempted rape near to Shobnall Fields in Burton. A week later, a woman reported having her bike stolen from a man near to Shobnall Fields.
Following an extensive investigation by the Child Protection and Exploitation Team, Webb was arrested and charged.
Detective Sergeant Shelley Burns, of the force’s Child Protection and Exploitation Team, said: “I am extremely proud of my team who all worked tirelessly to gather the overwhelming evidence that secured Webb’s conviction.
“Webb is a truly dangerous man, and the manner in which he prayed on vulnerable lone females reflected this. I would like to thank the victim’s and their families for showing great strength and courage in providing their evidence for the case.”
