A man has been found guilty of a non-recent sexual assault in Staffordshire.
Imran Khan, 48, of London, was found guilty of a sexual assault by a jury following a trial at Southwark Crown Court today (11 April).
Following a report made to police in December 2019, Staffordshire Police began an investigation.
The court heard that Khan had sexually assaulted the victim following a party at the victim’s family home in January 2008. Khan, aged 34 at the time, attended the party as a guest.
Khan stayed the night at the family’s home and shared a room with the victim. The victim reported that Khan sexually assaulted him in the bedroom.
A spokesperson for Staffordshire Police said: “We know how hard it is to come forward and report these offences, but it is vital to bring those responsible for these offences to justice.
“We would like to commend the victim for reporting the offence committed against him – he has shown real bravery and courage in doing so. This case has had a huge impact on the victim and his family for a number of years.
“We are committed to getting justice for victims and would encourage anyone who has been a victim of sexual abuse to report it directly to police on 101 and you can speak with our specialist officers in confidence.”
Khan is due to be sentenced at Southwark Crown Court at a date to be confirmed.
