A man has been arrested after a pedestrian was in collision with a van in Tamworth yesterday evening (Wednesday 6 April).
Police were called at 8.21pm to Mill Lane in Tamworth following reports of a collision.
Officers attended as did the ambulance service.
Upon arrival, a pedestrian and an abandoned white Ford Transit Connect van were discovered on West Street, off Saxon Mill Lane.
The victim, a woman in her 60s, was conveyed to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham with life-threatening head injuries.
She remains in a critical condition in hospital.
Another woman, also in her 60s, was assessed by paramedics and discharged at the scene.
A 39-year-old man, from the Tamworth area, was arrested a short time later on suspicion of drink-driving.
He remains in police custody while inquiries continue.
Officers are appealing for anyone who saw what happened or who may have relevant dashcam footage of the area at the time of the collision to get in touch.
