Uttoxeter man sentenced for drug and firearm offences

A 30-year-old man from Uttoxeter has been sentenced to community order for 12 months for possession with intent to supply cannabis and possession of a stun gun.
Christopher Ward, from Lambert Road, was stopped by officers in a white Nissan Juke on Bramshall Road, Uttoxeter at 4:10pm on Thursday 25th June 2020. Officers had reported a strong aroma of cannabis emitting from the vehicle and proceeded to search the car once it had been safely stopped.
Ward admitted to officers that cannabis was present in the vehicle and indicated to a rucksack in the footwell, which retrieved four large bags of packed cannabis.
A subsequent search at Ward’s address uncovered further quantities of cannabis and a stun gun which was disguised as a torch.
All of the retrieved cannabis was weighed together and amounted to 205 grams.
Ward pleaded guilty to the offences and was sentenced at Stafford Crown Court yesterday (Wednesday 22 September 2021).
Detective Sergeant Jonathan Bradbury, of Staffordshire Police’s Disruption Team South, said: “We continue to examine intelligence and work towards the reduction of drugs supply in Staffordshire. We hope that this serves as a warning to anyone who many be involved in drug activities, or perhaps contemplating doing so”.
“We will continue to seek out and disrupt all drugs activity on our streets in an attempt to make Staffordshire communities a better and safer place to live”.
