Officers are appealing for information after a man was assaulted in Stafford.
Police were called at 7.16pm on Monday (6 September) to Merrey Road, in Stafford, following reports of violence.
Officers attended and found a 45-year-old man unconscious.
He was conveyed to hospital by the ambulance service.
His condition is not thought to be life-threatening or life-changing.
A 53-year-old man and a 34-year-old woman, both from the Stafford area, were arrested a short time later on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent.
They have since been released under investigation while inquiries continue.
