Two men from Burton who threw petrol bombs and brandished weapons, including a crossbow and machete, have been sentenced.
John Joseph Collins, 42, and Martin Collins, 19, both of Horninglow Road North, were given sentences at Stafford Crown Court on October 22 following reports of a disturbance that took place on 7 April 2021 at around 12.50am.
John Collins pleaded guilty to the offence of violent disorder and was sentenced to a total of three years imprisonment. Martin Collins pleaded guilty to violent disorder and being in possession of an offensive weapon. He was sentenced to six months imprisonment suspended for 12 months.
John Collins and Martin Collins confronted a group of five males in the early hours of 7 April in Burton.
DC Andy Brooks of Staffordshire Police said: “We will always take any reports of this nature extremely seriously and the sentence handed by the court reflects this approach.”
“We are committed to ensuring behaviour like this will not be tolerated and the community can be assured we will work relentlessly to bring those responsible to justice”
