PC Richard Lymer is preparing to have his long locks chopped for charity as part of a fundraising effort which has so far amassed more than £5,000.
The road policing unit cop is planning to have his 20-inch-long hair chopped, with his head shaved, on Saturday 22 May, to raise even more funds for Katharine House Hospice, the StrongMen charity and Mummy’s Star.
So far, the PC’s fundraising efforts have seen him garner £5,010 in support, which will be split equally between each organisation.
Each charity is close to Rich’s heart as they have each helped colleagues overcome difficult times in their lives.
The StrongMen charity helps men cope with bereavement; Mummy’s Star supports women diagnosed with cancer during pregnancy or within 12 months of giving birth, while Katherine House Hospice supports families coping with life-limiting illnesses.
Rich’s hair cut is due to take place tomorrow (Saturday 22 May) at 1.30pm and will be live-streamed across his social media.
Rich said: “I’d like to thank everyone who has so kindly and generously donated to help support these wonderful charities who make such a difference to people's lives when they need it the most."
Rich’s fundraising page remains open to donations.
