Detectives are investigating after a man was seriously assaulted in Burton.
The 30-year-old, who was discovered on Uxbridge Street at 5.15am this morning, had suffered a suspected broken leg and a deep cut to his head.
He remains in hospital in a critical condition.
In addition a 26-year-old man was also assaulted in the area at around the same time and sustained grazes and cuts. He was checked over by paramedics but did not require hospital treatment.
As part of the ongoing investigation officers have been conducting house-to-house enquiries and viewing local CCTV. Detectives are also keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and for anybody with dash cam footage to contact the police.
