Three arrests have been made by officers following a serious assault in the Barracks Road area of Newcastle early this morning (June 19).
We received reports of two men with injuries just before 1am. They have since been taken to hospital for treatment.
Following searches by officers and dogs three arrests were made.
Men aged 18, 20 and 22, all from the Stoke-on-Trent area, were arrested on suspicion of wounding and remain in custody.
The injured men are in their twenties. One has left hospital, but the other is still receiving treatment. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Patrols have been increased in the area to provide reassurance as enquiries continue following the three arrests.
