Officers attended an address on Oak Street in Burton-upon-Trent early yesterday morning (Monday 7 June) after reports of a suspected cannabis grow.
After gaining entrance to the property a man – Irdi Pali, aged 24, from Croydon in London, was arrested.
Western Power were asked to attend to make the property safe as the electricity supply had been bypassed.
A total of 75 plants were found at the property – as well as 48 lights used for cannabis production and 48 transformers - and all have been seized.
Pali has since been charged with producing a controlled drug of Class B – cannabis and was refused bail while awaiting a court date.
PC Dean Munro of the Burton neighbourhood Policing Team said: “We were alerted to the possibility of a cannabis grow being undertaken at the property and officers acted pro-actively and swiftly to close down the operation and make an arrest.
“This resulted in an amount of cannabis being removed from the streets of Burton. We will always look to shut down drugs operations which blight the lives of the people we serve and will continue to pro-actively seek to bring the perpetrators to justice."
