Officers are appealing for information after a man was found with a serious head injury in Bucknall, Stoke-on-Trent.
Police were called at 9.15pm on Tuesday (20 April) to Hyndley Close following reports of violence.
Officers attended and a man in his 30s was found having sustained a serious head injury and suspected broken arm after an assault.
He was conveyed to hospital by the ambulance service where he remains in a stable condition.
Officers remain at the scene while inquiries continue.
