Boy arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following park assault

A 16-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder after a man received serious head injuries in Burslem Park.
Police were called by the ambulance service at 12.20am on (Sunday 1 November) to reports that a man had serious head injuries. He had been assaulted near to the park’s bandstand. The 28-year-old man, from Stoke-on-Trent, was taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital, where he remains in a stable condition.
The 16-year-old boy, from Stoke-on-Trent, was arrested this morning and remains in custody.
A second man, a 31-year-old from Stoke-on-Trent, was also assaulted at approximately 11pm on Saturday (31 October) on Moorland Road in Burslem. He received head injuries, a broken arm, elbow and nose. The two incidents are believed to be linked.
Detectives are appealing for dashcam footage from people travelling on Hamil Road and Moorland Road in Burslem between 10.45pm and 12.20pm. Also, anyone who was in the vicinity of Burslem Park between those times is urged to come forward.
