A police officer has been treated in hospital for a serious leg injury following a collision in Stoke-on-Trent last night (Thursday 16 January).
The incident occurred at around 6.30pm last night on The Strand in Longton, as a Ford Fiesta failed to stop for officers. The vehicle was believed to be stolen. The car mounted the pavement and was in collision with a police car, a Vauxhall Insignia, which resulted in injury to an officer.
After making off, the red Ford Fiesta was discovered abandoned a short distance away on Driffield Close.
The officer sustained a serious fracture to his left leg, and was taken to hospital for further treatment. He has since been discharged.
An investigation is currently underway.
The force is supporting him with his recovery and welfare.
