Just before 3.55pm this afternoon (Wednesday 26 February), police were called to reports of a two-vehicle collision involving a black Toyota Hilux and a grey Foden Tipper HGV on the Leek to Ashbourne road (A523) at Bottomhouse at the junction with the B5053.
Sadly, a passenger in the Toyota, a woman in her 60s, died at the scene. The driver, a man in his 60s, and two children were taken to the Royal Stoke University Hospital by ambulance.
The driver of the HGV was not injured.
Specialist officers are supporting the woman’s family.
Officers from the Staffordshire and West Midlands Serious Collision Investigation Unit are appealing for witnesses who may have seen the vehicles before the collision or anyone with relevant dashcam footage to contact 101, quoting incident 426 of 26 February.
