Witness appeal over fatal A5 RTC near Tamworth

Officers from the Staffordshire and West Midlands Collision Investigation unit are appealing for witnesses following a fatal road traffic collision on the A5 at Tamworth.
Police were called at 8.55am this morning (Tuesday 8 December) to reports of a two-vehicle collision on the A5 westbound heading towards Tamworth.
The collision involved a stationary Seat Ibiza and a white Transit van.
Sadly, the driver of the Seat, a man in his 50s, died at the scene. A passenger in the Seat received minor injuries. The driver and passenger of the van were not injured.
Specialist officers are supporting the man’s family.
Surrounding roads are closed and we are asking drivers to avoid the area.
Witnesses who may have seen the vehicles prior to the collision or anyone with relevant dashcam footage is asked to message Staffordshire Police on Facebook or Twitter quoting incident number 128 of 8 December, call 101 or alternatively contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
