Police are reminding residents, particularly the elderly and vulnerable, to be vigilant following a distraction burglary in Melstone Avenue, Tunstall.
The incident took place at approximately 3pm on Tuesday 29 October, when three woman called at the door of an elderly resident, claiming to be collecting money for a deaf charity.
The fraudsters asked the homeowner if they could use the bathroom inside. Two of the women went upstairs, and one followed the woman into the kitchen. They then all left together on foot a short time later.
After they had left, the victim discovered her purse with cash and cards inside was missing.
The women are described as between 18-25 years old, with long black hair. They were all wearing black with lanyards and carried clipboards.
