Arrest made as part of drugs operation

Two men have been arrested on suspicion of theft and drug offences by Staffordshire Police as part of an on-going county-wide operation.

Officers stopped a suspected stolen vehicle, a black Ford Fiesta ST, at around 2.20pm yesterday afternoon (9 August) on Midway Car Park, Newcastle-under-Lyme.

Following a search of the vehicle a quantity of what is believed to be Class A drugs and mobile phones were discovered.

Officers also seized a sword, meat cleaver and hammer from inside of the vehicle.

A 19-year-old man from Oldbury was arrested on suspicion of possessing a controlled drug, being concerned in the supply of Class A drugs and theft.

A 17-year-old man from Oldbury was also arrested on suspicion of theft, and possession of a controlled drug with intent to supply.

They both remain in custody at this time and enquires are on-going.
