Police investigation for missing Samantha Eastwood continues

Officers investigating the disappearance of Staffordshire woman Samantha Eastwood say they are becoming increasingly concerned for her welfare.

Samantha, a 28-year-old midwife from Stoke-on-Trent, has not been seen since Friday 27 July, when she finished her night shift at the Royal Stoke University Hospital at 7.45am .

She didn't return for her next night shift later that day at 7pm and after colleagues raised concerns, she was reported missing to police.

Officers say it is completely out of character for Samantha, who lives in the Stockton Brook area, not to be in contact with family and friends and also for her not turn up at work.

Her disappearance is being investigated by a team of detectives from the force's Major and Organised Crime Department.

As part of the investigation a 32-year-old man from Stoke-on-Trent was arrested in the Hanley area on Sunday 29 July on suspicion of kidnap. He has since been released on conditional bail while enquiries continue.

Senior Investigating Officer, Detective Inspector Dan Ison, said: "We are continuing to treat this as a high risk missing person enquiry. Our only aim is for a safe return of Samantha. The arrest was part of our on-going enquiries.

"During any investigation of this nature, we would not rule anything out and need to explore all avenues with the aim of returning Samantha safe and well."

Officers are today carrying out house to house enquires, local searches and are continuing to trawl CCTV in an effort to trace Samantha's movements.

DI Ison added: "We would ask Samantha herself if she is able to let us or her family know she is safe and well or if anyone has seen her or knows her whereabouts to contact us as soon as possible. She has now been missing since Friday and we are growing increasingly concerned."

The family are being supported by specially-trained officers during this stressful time.

Samantha is described as white, approximately 5ft 3in tall, of medium build and with shoulder-length ginger hair. She has brown eyes and a fair complexion with freckles.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Staffordshire Police immediately on 101, quoting incident 940 of 27 July 2018.
