Police Sergeant Ruth Templeton, will be representing Staffordshire Police Link Officers for the Deaf (PLOD), at the national DEAFvibe conference, which is being held at the bet365 Stadium, Stoke on Trent on 19 April 2018.

Ruth will be joined by other front-line officers, PCSOs and staff from PLOD in hosting the Staffordshire Police PLOD stand to promote their work to visitors and other exhibitors at the annual event.

Ruth, who works as a custody sergeant at Burton Police Station, will also be delivering a presentation to the conference about the work she and her PLOD colleagues do in supporting any members of the deaf community who come into contact with the force.

Ruth said:

"DEAFvibe is a brilliant event and a great opportunity to get out there and meet the local deaf community.

"It's also a great networking opportunity as there is always loads of different organisations to talk to and raise awareness of how the police support deaf people."

The DEAFvibe event takes place between 10 and 4pm on the 19 April. All members of the public are welcome to attend the event.

PLOD organise a variety of events throughout the year including drop in events at community venues, open days, police engagement events, community days and offer communication support to members of the deaf community and raise awareness of deafness issues with front line officers and police staff.
