Celebrating long service and excellent police work

Recognising and celebrating the outstanding work of our officers and staff is something we pride ourselves on at Staffordshire Police.

Long-serving police officers and staff will be rewarded for their continued hard work and commitment at a ceremony tonight.

Special Chief Inspector Janet Riley will be receiving a bar and rosette for 49 years' service with the Special Constabulary. A member of the public, Mr Christopher Porcheret, will be receiving a Society for the Protection of Life from Fire certificate for saving a woman from a burning house.

The event will also see officers and staff being commended for their outstanding professionalism, excellent police work and bravery leading to the conviction of a violent offender following an incident in Newcastle in February. Other officers are being commended for their brave actions that ultimately saved a man's life.

Officers who volunteered to support the British Virgin Islands Police Force in their efforts to restore order in the wake of hurricanes Irma and Maria will also be commended.

Chief Constable Gareth Morgan will present the awards tonight (Tuesday) 5 December at 7pm at Police Headquarters in Stafford.
